Minimalism in Cat in the Rain Essay - 1030 Words
Minimalism is a style of writing where the author presents a plot in brevity with few details and allows the reader to draw his or her conclusions. Few noteworthy characteristics of minimalistic fiction include use of plain language, short and simple sentences, symbolism, objective viewpoint, omission of character description, and unresolved main conflict. Well-known American writer, Ernest Hemingway, in his short story ââ¬Å"Cat in the Rainâ⬠employs this minimalistic aesthetics effectively to achieve the theme of loneliness along with the notions such as nihilism and the lack of resolution. The use of short, simple sentences, mostly without descriptive language, is a distinctive element of minimalism which helps to emphasize the theme ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This roaming lifestyle inhibits her from starting a family and having children. Consequently, she selfishly desires domestic lifestyle. She states ââ¬Å"I want to eat at a table with my own silver and I want candles. And I want it to be spring and I want to brush my hair out in front of a mirror and I want a kitty and I want some new clothes â⬠(Hemingway 535). The lack of domesticity in her life is then highlighted when the maid specifically brings a ââ¬Å"tortoise-shell cat,â⬠a multicolor cat which can only be found as a female. Thereby, the cat can be inferred to represent the American wifeââ¬â¢s desire to be feminine and be a housewife. The American wifeââ¬â¢s desire to have cat so badly also indicates that she wants the cat for company so she will not be alone physically. Besides the cat representing physical solitude, Hemingway also uses the cat to project the American wifeââ¬â¢s inner emotions and her desire for love. Hemingway introduces the cat by stating that ââ¬Å"a cat was crouched under one of the dripping green tables. The cat was trying to make herself so compact that she would not be dripped onâ⬠(Hemingway 533). Like the cat in the rain, the wife is ostracized by her husband, not really loved or taken care of and struggling to stay out of the gloomy cloud of isolation looming around her. Taking this notion into consideration, the cat in the story ultimately represents the protagonist who like the cat is stuck alone under the roof of hotel. Hemingway further channels

Police Brutality Is Not On The Rise - 1029 Words
Police abuse remains a significant problem and not enough reform has been made to prevent it from occurring. Around 1000 people were killed by the police in 2015, and over 100 of them were unarmed. The intentional use of excessive force by a person with authority, which oftentimes ends with injuries and sometimes even death, creates a bad perception of police officers and distrust between cops and civilians. To rebuild the relationship between people and police reform needs to take place. Law makers need to refine the unjust criminal justice system, police officers need to obey the fourth amendment, and the city government needs to involve the community in major decisions. Police brutality has existed as long as policing has been around in this country. Over the past decade, there have been more incidents involving police brutality coming to light. Unjustified shootings, severe beatings, fatal chokings, and excessive force have all contributed to the problem at hand which is police brutality in America. In my opinion, police brutality is not on the rise. I believe that the media coverage today and the more exposure of the situations makes it seem like there is an increase. It is more likely that this brutality has always existed, sadly and these cases have been exposed due to advances in technology. Today, everyone has a phone with a camera on it, so if there is an incident plenty of people have the ability to document it. Management In Global - Industry And Macro Environment
Question: Case study on management in Global Environment. Answer: Macro and Industry Environment in the Southeast Asian Region As opined by Studwell (2013), both the macro and industry environment in the Southeast Asian region for the new entrants such as new budget airlines is one of great potential. Roy (2014) added in this context that the success of the new budget airlines depends on the liberalization policy of the government. In order to more precise, when the government of this region liberalizes the airlines in their nations, the new budget airlines would able to make growth and acquire success as well. Stockport (2012) compared the Asian airlines industry with the airlines business of rest of the world and found that the Asian airlines industry was highly cost competitive. This is because of the suitable macro environment of the Southeast Asian Region for the airline business. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, no frills fliers were there that could have threatened the Asian airlines (Pauka, 2015). However, Studwell (2013) explained that some challenges as well as opportunities are associated with the macro and industry environment of Southeast Asian region. In the recent years, the competition in the Asian airlines has been increasing gradually. It has been found that the number of potential travelers increases day by day and this is the prime reason of the increasing competition. Besides, the successful existing businesses attract the new business and thus the completion in this region increases. Along with that, as the government regulations have decreased in this region, the businesses are able to explore opportunities where they could enhance their business (Stockport, 2012). Besides, the low fare Asian airlines increase the number of potential travelers and hence this growing number delivers opportunity to make more profits. Apart from this, the fuel cost along with the cost of ground operations and passenger services create challenges in balancing the cost and revenue (P auka, 2015). Demand for Low Fare Service in Asia-Pacific Region Liang (2012) mentioned that the income level in most of the Asian countries is way much lower than the income level of North America and Europe. Besides, the availability of the alternative transportation is comparatively higher in the Asia Pacific region. The airline industry confronts strong completion from the high speed rail as the rail fare is much lower than the fare in airlines. Jeddi et al. (2014) added in this context that small percentage of Asian travelers tends to utilize more expensive airlines. Further, it has been mentioned that the Asian consumers are more cost sensitive than the consumers of North America and Europe. The Asia travelers are highly attracted by the low fare transportation and thus the demand for low fare service in this specific region is way much higher in comparison with those two regions (Mutum Ghazali, 2014). Furthermore, Mutum Ghazali (2014) stated that the modern technology changes the ways of leading life. The percentage of internet users increases rapidly across the world. However, the Asian consumers are still limited in full potential utilization of internet resources. They are highly dependent on the middle man and travel agents. Before the low fare airlines services in Asian Pacific region, the middle income and low income groups could not ever think to use airline services. These are the reason that the airline industry applied low price strategy (Francis, 2012). The low fare airline services enhance the demand for the airline services in this specific region. Further, the airline industry in Asia targets the customers who would not use their service if the price is higher (Pauka, 2015). This is the prime reason that the demand for lower fare service is comparatively higher in the Asian Pacific region than the North America and Europe. AirAsias Generic Strategy As per the discussion of Kamisan King (2013), AirAsia tries to emulate efficient operational strategies of Ryanair and successful people-oriented strategies of Southwest. It is important to note that the Southwest and Ryanair adapted the specific strategies to differentiate themselves in the American and European markets. In these specific markets, large number of lost cost service providers is present and thus it created the airline industry highly competitive. These strategies helped them to acquire competitive advantages and this is the reason that AirAsia imitate these strategies. AirAsia is similar with Ryanair and Southwest in terms of operational and people oriented strategies. However, some factors are there based on which the AirAsias generic strategy can be differentiated with the strategies of other incumbent carriers and the strategies of Ryanair and Southwest as well. Majumdar (2015) defined the generic strategy as the cost minimization, product differentiation and market focus strategy. Jeddi et al. (2014) elaborated that the cost leadership strategy of AirAsia led them to increase their revenue and profit by reducing the operational cost. Along with that, they charge industry-average price for their service which is the largest difference between their strategy and the strategies of other incumbent carriers. Besides, the company increased their market share by charging lower price. In this context, it is essential to mention that still they are able to make reasonable profit in each sale because they reduced the cost of the business (Yashodha, 2012). Further, the differentiation strategy defines that their prime focus centered on the research, development and innovation which led them to success (Lee Dy, 2015). The differentiation strategy helped them to offer high quality service at lower possible price. Through focusing on the innovative techniques, they are able to enhance the quality of their service. Lastly, through their market focus strategy, they concentrate on the need of the market and develop uniquely low cost service (Birla, 2013). In Asian Pacific region, people are more price sensitive and thus the business adapted low pricing strategy in order to attract more number of travelers (Hongdiyanto, 2012). The generic strategy made them worlds most successful budget airline (Wong, 2014). Role of Fernandes in this Case The case study clears that Fernandes was well aware about the economic and operational uncertainties and risks. Further, the case indicates that Fernandes has played crucial role in the decision making process by considering the differences of this geographic region. When he took over Asia, he has taken professional advices from Conor McCarthy of Ryanair and some other business professionals who have been successfully leading their business. However, Hongdiyanto (2012) discussed that when Fernandes took over AirAsia in the year 2001, the business could led to the failure. Considering an incident, the September 11 attacks lead the air travel downturn. This was the one of the major threat that he has ever faced in the business (Hongdiyanto, 2012). At that time, Fernandes still decided to take risk and relaunch the airline. It has been decided by predicting that the dropping airlift leasing cost and availability of experienced staffs would help them to lead to business towards success ( Hongdiyanto, 2012). Furthermore, form the case study, it has been noticed that Fernandes might have overlooked the area of macro political risks. In this context, it is important to note that major political decisions likely to affect all industries in a country or region. In order to support the statements with an example, it can be stated that several political issues that a number of Asian countries are continuously confronting might spillover effects on the airline industry (Temporal, 2012). It has been found that political instability, discrimination issues, corruption problems, currency fluctuations, and religious turmoil in the Asian Pacific region are the major factors that might affect the airline industry (Temporal, 2012). Entrepreneurial Strategy of Fernandes Following the statement of Steyer (2015), a strong entrepreneurial spirit along with the determination necessary led Fernandes to achieve the purpose of the business. It has been noted that he was insightful, flexible, and responsive to change. This helped him to deal with major challenges and uncertainties. Jeddi et al. (2014) identified the prime entrepreneurial strategies of Fernandes that helped him to make the business 'World's Best Low Cost Airline'. Crucial focus of Fernandes centered on the strategies that include branding, marketing, good grasp of finance, no fear of failure, digital technology, corporate culture and government support. Fernandes placed the branding strategy on the top of their pricing strategy as he believed that only profit is not enough for the success of a business. Along with the branding strategy, it is important to adapt effective marketing policy to make themselves known to the customers. Besides, the personal knowledge about finance and education of Fernandes helped in leading the business (Mutum Ghazali, 2014). Apart from all this, the most important strategy is to omitting fear of being failure. This was the reason that he took risk in the most difficult situation and made it successful. The digital technology has been widely incorporated by him in the business that helped them in their operational management (Lee Dy, 2015). The corporate culture along with government support of Asian Pacific region helped Fernandes to bring innovation and apply strategic policies in the business (Mutum Ghazali, 2014). The above discussion clears the fact that Fernandes' entrepreneurial strategy led the business in market position where it is placed today. Response of AirAsia to Challenges As opined by Kamisan King (2013), the core advantage that the business has, is of being first to the market. This gave the competitive advantages in terms of brand image, customer loyalty and government support. Further, AirAsia has the established knowledge of Asian culture that gave them advantage over the potential multinational competitors. AirAsia has the necessary factors which are needed for the business expansion. The business has significant resources, credibility and planning capacity that could help the business to expand their business in the international market before its major competitors (Steyer, 2015). However, the business have not confronted any hitches of bureaucracy, lack of efficiency, stagnant organizational culture and prevalent in incumbent and expensive carriers (Kamisan King, 2013). These would help the business to respond to the challenges of new fare carriers entering in the Asian market and low fare strategies pursued by incumbent carriers. According to Jeddi et al. (2014), the most effective approach of this particular business is to maximize their capitalizing policy rather than creating hostile competition. They should maintain positive relation with the government of Asian Pacific region to neutralize the threat of government (Steyer, 2015). As per my knowledge, it is likely that through maintaining positive relation with the government, AirAsia could maintain their competitive nature strong in the market. Asian Passenger Air Transport Marketplace As per the statement of Studwell (2013), Asian Pacific region is similar with North America and Europe to some extent in terms of business market. As per my knowledge, as new businesses will enter in the existing market to offer low price services, the market becomes more competitive in nature. As a result, the consumers' perspectives, their decisions and choices will be fluctuated and thus the business of AirAsia will be affected (Kamisan King, 2013). As the Asian travelers are more price conscious, they do not stick into their loyalty, rather they would be attracted by the services which is offered at lower prices (Mutum Ghazali, 2014). Some lessons can be drawn from American and European region. Temporal (2012) mentioned that some promotional tools may be incorporated and applied to keep their position and reputation unaffected. Further, it would help to maintain good customer relationship and customer loyalty as well. These promotional tools include mileage accumulation, frequent and timely scheduled, and more availability of routes (Temporal, 2012). Through including wide range of locations in their service, they would able to acquire competitive advantages and attract more customers. From North American and Europe experience, it can be learnt that sooner implementation would help to obtain competitive advantages. The profitability of AirAsia attracts more businesses which may enter soon and apply the same strategies which have been applied by the business (Yashodha, 2012). Furthermore, the number of Asian travelers also increases, that competition in the Asian pacific region will be increased more. Thus, it is a dvisable that AirAsia should incorporate these promotional tools sooner than rather than waiting for the later applications (Kamisan King, 2013). My Assessment From the case study, it has been found that AirAsia has proven that they had the ability to operate the budget airline successfully. They should enhance their ability their ability as well as capital by expanding their business in the similar business market such as China, Australia, India, and Europe. Through expanding their business market, not only they would be able to earn more profit, but also able to generate sustainable competitive advantages. In the present situation, it is expected that the competition would be increased to a larger extent. Thus, it is important for AirAsia to apply new strategic policies to maintain their position in the world airline business. However, it is essential to note that the business environment of other countries would be differed than the environment where it is operating now. Thus, AirAsia should identify the markets where they would confront less risk and more opportunity to enhance their business. Effective policies and strategies would hel p to acquire more competitive advantages over its existing as well as probable competitors. Apart from this, it is expected that customer loyalty might be hampered due to the new entrants. As the new business would offer low price services, the travelers of the Asian Pacific region would be attracted. However, it is important to note that if the new services would be provided at lower prices in comparison with AirAsia, then AirAsia could confront strong competition. This might shake out current business position of the company. Thus, it is suggested that the company should expand their business in new markets. Reference List Birla, M. Starbucks Culture Essay Example For Students
Starbucks Culture Essay Starbucks: Culture It is not so often that a coffee house gets to tell so much about culture. Think about a Russian coffee house that can tell foreigners about our lifestyle and our character, about things that are important to us in business and in personal relations, in gastronomical tastes and political affairsâ⬠¦ I would not dare to name one. Yet when I think of American culture, I marvel at how interestingly it is reflected in Starbucks, the most famous and the largest coffee and coffee house chain in the world. It all started in 1971. Two teachers and a writer (Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker if you care for names) started the Starbucks company, which was at first not even a coffee house, but a high quality store of coffee beans and equipment. As far as roasting the beans was one of the companies primary occupations, it is very likely that the famous Starbucks roast, now proudly displayed in many coffee houses, was developed in those remote days. Although the Starbucks roast itself deserves applause for the intense, rich flavor it brings out in coffee, it is not the roasting technique that paved the companyââ¬â¢s way to greatness. We will write a custom essay on Starbucks Culture specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now It is the coffee houses with their unmistakable atmosphere and high-quality drinks that led Starbucks to success. Today there are more than 16à 000 of them all over the world. They may be condemned for Americanizing the world or may be hailed for bringing a piece of genuine American culture to other countries and finally giving it a more elaborate image than the greasy genetically modified McDonaldââ¬â¢s burger. Everything about Starbucks seems to be astonishingly American. Even the name of the company originates in the very core of American culture. It comes from the book, which is claimed to be the second best-seller after the Bible, Melvilleââ¬â¢s Moby Dick. It is said that originally the founders wanted to name the company Pequod, in honor of the ship from the novel. However, it was a big question whether anyone would want to drink coffee from Pee-quod, so they ended up with the name of Ahabââ¬â¢s first mate Starbuck, which also reminded of a turn-of-the century mining camp Starbo, thus adding a tinge of history. The name, once pronounced, immediately awakes the image of the famous green-white logo. Originally it was not at all green, but brown and the siren (yes, the lady is a siren, moreover, a twin-tailed one) was way more graphic, that is, she had breasts. Can a woman on the logo, be it even the siren herself, have breasts in a country that was partly found by puritans? Certainly not! In the battle with the American idea of what is proper the visitor from Greek mythology lost not only her breasts, but also her navel. The logo has happened to reflect more than the high moral standards of American citizens. Its story also happened to unite the American love for parody and their court-oriented mentality. In 2000, San Francisco cartoonist Kieron Dwyer was sued by Starbucks for copyright and trademark infringement after creating a parody of its siren logo and putting it on the cover of one of his comics; later placing it on coffee mugs, T-shirts, and stickers that he sold on his website and at comic book conventions. In a similar case, a New York store selling stickers and T-shirts using the Starbucks logo with the words fuck off was sued by the company in 1999. The most interesting illegal usage of the logo, however, is that by the Christian community. It produces cups from recycled paper and tries to work out a technology to make those cups recyclable (as of now, the plastic that is added to keep the form of the cups makes them impossible to recycle). Starbucks conducts charity programs and helps in fundraising. Nevertheless, Starbucks remains a constant target for criticism. Many people are against its monopolistic marketing strategies. Many find that the charity and Fair trade programs are superficial and exist only to create a positive image. Some even accuse Starbucks of being involved with Israeli military. Just like the policy of the Unites States, the policy of Starbucks is widely disputed. With all the weight of cultural significance that Iââ¬â¢ve mposed on Starbucks, one shouldnââ¬â¢t forget about the simple everyday role that Starbucks plays in American life. You can hardly find an American who has never been to Starbucks. Most of them either hang out there regularly or drop in every now and then to grab a paper cup of the seasonââ¬â¢s specialty. The bright walls, the little tables standing closely together, the extremely comfortable armchairs, the relaxing music, people with laptops and books ââ¬â everythin g contributes to the atmosphere of an intellectual lounge, of the desired freedom of spirit, thought and body. Starbucks shares the rhythm of the Americans. In the morning it is all about noise and hurry, in the afternoon it is very businesslike, while in the evening it is cosy and loud. Being a coffee house, Starbucks may also be considered a journal of American life. Most trends that are typically American find their reflection either in the products of Starbucks or in the company policy. Starbucks carries American culture around the world, but unlike many other stereotypically American things, it does indeed play an important role in the everyday life of American people.

Pro Death Penalty Speech Essay Example
Pro Death Penalty Speech Essay Example Pro Death Penalty Speech Paper Pro Death Penalty Speech Paper Verna Stafford first lured the family driving in their car, pretending to be a stranded motorist. She first shot Melvin Lorenz when he failed to turn over all his money. His wife, Linda Lorenz, was shot by Roger and Harold when she came running to help her husband. With both of them still alive, the trio again pounded their bodies with bullets, then kidnapped their only son of 12 years, Richard. In utter terror, the young boy attempted to yell out for help out of the moving cars window. Roger became enraged and without any feeling of sympathy for the young ay stuck a gun through the window and shot the boy. Still alive, Richard Lorenz was driven about a mile, removed from the camper and shot again. These Inhumane and senseless killings deserve nothing less than a death sentence and that is exactly what was awarded to Roger. I believe the death penalty should be implemented for heinous crimes such as cold-blooded murder. I will first present some history regarding the death penalty in the united States Approximately 7900 persons have been sentenced to death and 1184 executed from 1976-2009. An average of 0. 2% of those were executed every year during that time. Ninety-eight murderers were executed in 1998, a record number for the modern death penalty. This represented 1. 8% of those on death row. The average time on death row for those 98 executed 11 years, 2 months an all time record of longevity. There are currently 35 states that implement the death penalty today versus fifteen that do not. Forty five percent of death row inmates are white and forty two percent are African American. A recent gallop poll taken states the public opinion for the death penalty Is 65%. One reason that I am in favor of the death penalty is that the death penalty will rely bring a mental closure and fresh beginnings to the families of violent crimes. This includes the Innocent children who are In many cases robbed of a loving parent or parents at the hands of evil murderers. The victims families are experiencing severe grief and stress because of the irreparable loss of their family member. The subject of the death penalty will arise when there is loss of human life, particularly the way In which the precious human life Is eliminated. To see or know that a heinous killer Is allowed to go free or even spend life In prison seems Like the killer Is eating away with murder. We all have a choice to do right or wrong. If we do wrong, we deserve to be punished. These killers have no regard for how precious life is so Tell tenet Tithe snouts De treated ten same. Sees Killers nave eroded ten velvet AT living their life to the fullest and punish the victims families as well. How many murder victims would have grown up to be doctors, scientists, or even President? We will never know. Many victims families cannot go back and live their normal lives without the feeling that the monster who killed their loved one is living a normal life, even if it is behind the bars. It is also not humanely or morally correct to let a gruesome killer free. The death penalty will give the family the feeling that the killer or killers of their loved ones has also been punished. In addition, the death penalty should not be abolished because while their victims are in the grave, the murderer will continue to enjoy his/her constitutional rights. He/she will organize campaigns in favor of him/her and thereby create a situation in which they will appear as if they are the ones who have been wronged. Some are allowed to publish books while Irving life sentences in prison. Many of these murderers brag about their sick crimes and some have even sent letters from prison to the victims families boasting how they enjoyed killing their loved one in gruesome detail. The family is forced to relive the crime again and again. The animals who committed a heinous crime of murder should not escape with lesser punishments and it is only logical to award him/her death penalty. Professor van den Hag, a psychoanalyst and adjunct professor at New York University had this to say l hold life sacred, L feel that anyone who takes some ones life should know that thereby he forsakes his own (CTD. In providentially. Com) If these killers are given life sentences or in some cases lesser Jail sentences, these animals could be set free to kill again. They are a danger to society as studies have shown that 10% of people convicted of murder will indeed murder again. The victims families and witnesses that may have testified in court live in fear of retaliation from the free murderer. Some prisoners who are serving life sentences for murder have even escaped from prison. For example, Michael Rodriguez, sentenced only to life sentence for heinous murder, Joined six other criminals in overpowering prison employees in Connelly, Texas in 2001. They all left the prison in a maintenance truck. After robbing a convenience store, Rodriguez shot a police officer 11 times and drove over his corpse. This incident clearly shows that people who have committed gruesome murders could escape the clutches of law, committing more killings of innocent people. So, I believe that the death penalty, because of its finality, is a more apt punishment than imprisonment for gruesome criminals. Former Attorney General of Indiana states,Sparing the lives of even a few prospective victims by deterring their would be murderers, is more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers. We should weigh the death of convicted murderer against the senseless loss of life from their victims. A second key factor that proves that the death penalty should remain is that the death penalty could surely deter other prospective murderers, making them think twice before committing crime. Although, crimes could be carried out in the heat of he moment, there will be many instances in which the prospective murderer will think or plan about the murder. While thinking or planning, if the prospective murderer Just slightly thanks tout ten tenant penalty Ana Its serious Ana relocating effect on his/hers life as well as their families lives, they could stop their murder plans. The individual deterrent effect is proven by many, perhaps thousands, of individual. There are fully documented cases where criminals have admitted that the death penalty was the specific threat which deterred them and/or others from committing murder. Indeed, one study showed that criminals, by a 5:1 ratio, believed that capital punishment was a significant enough deterrent to prevent them and/or others from committing murder. Indeed, prisoners rate the death penalty as a much more severe penalty than they do life without parole. While it is difficult to prove a negative, I. E. How many murders does the death penalty cause not to occur? , there is absolute evidence that the individual deterrent effect of executions saves innocent lives. Thus, I am for the opinion that the death penalty should not be abolished because he future of the innocent victims, who could be our brothers, parents, sisters, and children, needs to be protected against the evil murderers that exist in our world today. The death penalty helps the victims families receive closure from the nightmare the murderer has caused them as well as help deter criminals from committing murder for fear that there own lives will be in Jeopardy. Even one life that is saved from a murderer that is executed is reason enough to continue the death penalty as you cant put a price on innocent human life and it should be cherished. We can all help by standing our ground as the voice of the innocent lives that cannot speak for themselves.

Infections could come from the community as well as from the nursing staff in case a person is already admitted to a hospital. Infections develop due to poor hygiene and the most basic aim of infection control is to counter the environment that allows unhygienic practices (WHO, 2013). Glasper and Richardson, in their book Childrenââ¬â¢s and young peopleââ¬â¢s nursing explain that for infection to occur there must be a host, a germ or bacteria that could be transferred and finally a transmitter. If any of these three things are not present then it is not possible to transmit infection (Glasper & Richardson, 2007). Nizam Damani in his book ââ¬Ëinfection prevention and controlââ¬â¢ explains the two most basic ways of catching infections in hospitals. Transmission of infection comes from direct and indirect contact made to the patient.

Personal Reflection Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Personal Reflection Paper - Essay Example The main characters in the experience I explain are my best friend Jeff, his girlfriend Kelsey and me. There were many different stages in this experience too. As Jeff and I were friends since long, Kelsey too became a close friend of mine through him. However, one day I saw Jeff terribly upset and when I asked him as to what happened, he told me that he and Kelsey are no more having a good time together. Soon, it reached a breakup. Jeff was totally shattered, and he said that Kelsey was a terrible person for the way she dealt with the break up. By the time he finished explaining all the ill deeds of Kelsey, my perceptions about Kelsey was totally altered. I got a totally different perception of Kelsey and I could no more see her as a friend because in my opinion, she totally lacked sympathy and empathy. However, the unexpected happened later on. A month or two later, I found Jeff and Kelsey talking over phone and in one weeks time, I found them together again. However, I found it en tirely difficult to forget the wrong doing and forgive her. I told Jeff that I had nothing to do with her. However, later on, Kelsey came to me and forced me to listen to her explanation. As I heeded to her request, what I got was a totally different picture. The information Jeff gave me was over exaggerated and partially wrong. Thus, after months, I found that the conclusion I reached about Kelsey was wrong and I had to change it. Evidently, this is a perfect example of wrong perception where a number of factors ranging from a wrong application of perception schema and the limitation imposed by perceptual set created problems in my understanding. In addition, one can see the influence of recency effect. It seems that I went wrong from the moment of selecting the stimuli. I gave attention to the wrong stimulus and ended up in a wrong perception. There are various factors that affect the process of
